Seth Sharp — Artist Bio

Seth Sharp is a Detroit-based painter and visual artist whose work reflects the people, culture, and creative energy of the city he calls home. Working with a strong sense of portraiture and contemporary expression, Sharp creates paintings that invite viewers to look closely—not only at the subject, but at the stories, character, and emotion behind each image.

Rooted in Detroit’s vibrant artistic community, Sharp has shared his work through local exhibitions, cultural events, and community-centered art initiatives. His work has been featured at MAP Fest in Highland Park and included in The Hendrie Salon: A Survey of Black Artists in Detroit, Vol. 2, placing his practice within the evolving landscape of contemporary Black art in Detroit.

Sharp’s portrait work also speaks to the power of art as a tool for visibility and connection. His paintings have been incorporated into Detroit public-art and placemaking efforts, including a portrait created for the Voices of Black Women initiative.
